Three of four 2022 Baseball Title Games Set.... Saturday 6/18/22

ROOKIE baseball:    Tigers vs Mets   9 am   Field 2    The Tigers and the Mets finished 1-2 in the regular season standings with identical 12-2 records; they will square off in the championship game on Saturday at 9 am.     The Tigers won 2 of the 3 meetings between the teams, earning close wins of 12-11 and 15-14 in the most recent meeting.    The Mets won the other matchup, 21-9.

COACH PITCH baseball:   This division has not yet finalized its title contenders; the semi-finals will be played on Friday 6/17/22.     The Twins, who have lost just one game this year en route to the regular season championship and the #1 seed, will face the #4-seeded Mets in one semi-final game at 5:30 pm.    The other semi-final, at 7:30 pm, will feature the Dodgers and the Rays, who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the regular season.    The survivors will play for the title at 11 am Saturday.

MINOR baseball:   Cubs (13-3) vs. Reds (11-5)    1:30 pm Field 5   The Cubs won the regular season crown and advanced to this game with a convincing 11-0 win over the Giants in the first round of the playoffs and by outlasting the Nationals, 18-14, in the semis.    The #3-seeded Reds beat a solid Dodgers unit in round one, 11-9, then bested one of the top contenders in the division, the Indians, 14-7, in the semi-finals.     The two teams have met twice this year, with the Cubs winning the most recent matchup, 13-7.    The Reds beat the Cubs in the first meeting between the two teams, 11-10.

INTERMEDIATE baseball:   Diamondbacks (13-2) vs. Mets (11-5)    4 pm Field 6     Like the Rookie and Minor divisions, this division's title game will feature the regular season champions in the Diamondbacks, who led wire-to-wire in capturing the crown.    The #1-seeded Diamondbacks got a bye in round one and defeated the Orioles, 15-5, in the semi-finals.    The Mets, the #3 seed, ousted the Mariners in the first round, 16-10, before outlasting the #2-seeded Angels, 7-4, in a dramatic pitcher's duel that matched the Angels' Grant Steed againt the Mets' Joe Closurdo.   The D-Backs have beaten the Mets in all three meetings this year, but the games have all been very close, and the last game ended with the D-Backs on top, 11-10.
